Elbert County Remains at a Stage II Burn Restriction

As a reminder, Elbert County remains at a stage II burn restriction due to continued dry conditions, high winds, and low fuel moistures.

The Fourth of July is a festive holiday. It’s important to note that personal use of fireworks are prohibited and carry a minimum enforcement penalty of $110 by county ordinance 06-01.

It is recommended to check with your local fire protection district on controlled firework shows within your area.


STAGE TWO BURN RESTRICTIONS:

PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES:

  • Open burning of any kind
  • Sale and Use of fireworks
  • Discarding cigarettes in nonapproved locations
  • Use of model rockets

    ALLOWED ACTIVITES:

  • Charcoal and gas grills
  • Fires in approved portable exterior fireplaces
  • Outdoor welding and hot work operations

    PENALTIES FOR STAGE TWO:

  • $100, First offense plus surcharge of $10
  • $350, Second offense within 60 days of first offense plus $10
  • $500, Third offense within 60 days of first offense plus $10
