For four years the Calhan Police Department has been hosting their annual, “Bike Rodeo” for Calhan Elementary Students.

The Rodeo teaches students to ride their bikes through an obstacle course while obeying safety procedures and rules of the road.

This year’s Rodeo was on May 21 at Frontier Charter Academy andMay 22 at Calhan School.

Students were from first through fourth grade with approximately 140 students combined from the two schools.

Prizes were donated by the County Posse. The rodeo was started by Calhan Police Chief Buddy Johnson back when he worked in Simla, CO.

After transferring to the Calhan Police Department, he started the bike rodeos for the Calhan students.
